Discover Lires from Casa Raul

A jewel hidden between the sea and the rivers

Lires, Costa da Morte

This small village of the Concello de Cee, in the heart of Costa da Morte, is a place where Galician rural life retains all its essence. Surrounded by green meadows, soft mountains and two rivers —the Lires and the Castro— leading to a small ria, Lires offers a serene and unique landscape, ideal for those who seek calm and nature.

Here time stops between walks, birds, gardens and lonely beaches. The beach of Lires and Nemiña are very close, perfect for resting or surfing, while the sunsets on the river give unforgettable moments.

But Lires is also a place of spiritual passage, as it is part of the last stretch of the Way of Santiago that unites Fisterra and Muxia. Many pilgrims stop here to rest and reflect before arriving at the Barca shrine.

From Casa Raúl, located next to the church of San Esteban, you can walk, fish, observe birds, visit glances, discover hidden coves or simply enjoy the silence.

Lires does not appear in the mass guides. And maybe that's why, those who find out, they don't forget it anymore.

Camino de Santiago: Stage Lires-Muxia

Lires is a magical stop at the extension of the Way. Many pilgrims make night here before arriving at the Sanctuary of Barca.

Among the most special places of Lires stands out its river beach, where the Lires River forms a quiet natural bathroom, ideal for refreshing in summer. Only a mile away is the beach of Lires, a virgin that connects with that of Nemiña in the open sea, much appreciated by surfers and nature lovers. From there, the sunsets on the Atlantic are pure magic: lit skies, cliffs silhouettes and sea sound breaking without haste.

It also deserves a visit the church of San Esteban de Lires, located next to Casa Raúl, which retains its traditional structure and a privileged location between the green and the stone. For the walkers, there are trails that border the river and allow to observe birds such as royal herons, cormorans or hawks. And if you look for panoramic views, you can approach the Miradoiro de Lires, from where you can see the whole river and the contour of the coast. Lires is, in short, a little paradise hidden between Fisterra and Muxia, full of corners that fall in love.
